Some of you may have noticed today's "Pulse" supplement to the Daily News and the article about the Spokane-based "Big Red Barn Band" playing the Dahmen Barn this weekend. Don't despair, the Palouse's favorite big band, The Hog Heaven Big Band, will be wowing the crowd this Saturday, May 22, as scheduled. In fact, you now are on notice of two great back-to-back shows at the Barn: Hog Heaven Big Band on May 22nd and the Big Red Barn Band on May 29th (practice saying that 3 times quickly). Go ahead and splurge - swing with Hog Heaven this Saturday (the 22nd) and then come again on the 29th to enjoy the Big Red Barn Band - you can't get much better than that.

Shaking the Palouse

Well, well ... Saturday the 22d is almost here and the Hog Heaven Big Band is almost there - at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, that is. Keep checking for the new set list being put together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mt. St. Helens shaking the Pacific Northwest and dusting herself all over the Palouse. The music was great 30 plus years before then and all the more 30 years later - that's 60 plus years. Polish up your dancing shoes, tune up your ears, and join us for a great evening in Uniontown, Washington (there will even be a special rhythm section to boot). See you Saturday.

May Rehearsal Dates

Bring your bugle and tux to this month's rehearsals on May 10th and 17th. We will work on Begin the Beguine, Tuxedo Junction and the new charts Flip, Flop, and Fly and I Wan'na Be Like You. We may have an arrangement of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to work on as well.

Swing dance at Dahmen Barn

Monthly swing dances at the Dahmen Barn continue this weekend. Several new tunes have been rotated into the set list, including And The Angels Sing, Always, Cute, and Tuxedo Junction. Bring your dancing shoes and help us break in the new dance floor.

Moscow Farmer's Market opens in May

Moscow Farmer's Market 2010 season begins in May. The Hog Heaven Big Band will be performing at the market on August 7th from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Mark your calendar today!

April's rehearsal dates, skirts, and venues

Joe has called for rehearsals on April 5th, 12th, and 19th. He wants to work on new stuff and resurrect some older charts in order to rotate our set list.

Patrick will check out the venue for the August wedding on the Snake River at Asotin.

Great opening to the 2010 season

The Tennessee Waltz was a big hit at the Dahmen Barn swing dance on Saturday. There was a great turnout, lots of familiar faces. Thanks for your support of the band and the barn. See you next month (4/24).

Rehearsal in March
